Our Center

We operate Monday-Friday for Primary Care, and are available 24/7 for emergency services.

We provide inpatient care for those arriving on foot, while extending outpatient care to the elderly or critically ill. Our clinical staff frequently treats patients with malaria, hypertension, diabetes, and gastrointestinal or respiratory ailments. We also address more complex conditions including typhoid, HIV, and acute malnutrition.

On occasion, we host specialized medical camps focusing on surgical, dental, ophthalmological, and maternal health. Our mission also includes a specialized support program for children with albinism. We provide education on the condition alongside essential medical treatments and protective supplies to ensure their safety and well-being within the community.

Due to the generous commitment of global donors and volunteers, we continue to provide life-saving support to those in need every week.

Our Growth Since 2012

2012

Our Founding

With the simple goal of helping those in need, Zion Community was originally established in 2012. It served as a primary first-aid station for the local school, and was our first step toward addressing the severe healthcare needs within the Butoto subcounty region.

2019

Local Outreach

During 2019, our director Peter launched community health programs. With the help of volunteers and donors, we were able to restore the original building, and continue to expand the medical services we offer.

2020

Grand Opening

By 2020, we officially welcomed patients for full consultations and overnight stays. This launch allowed us to provide more sophisticated services to our patients.

2023

NGO Registration

In 2023, Zion Community officially registered as an NGO. This helped give our organization more legitimacy and strengthened our capacity to provide healthcare and education in Uganda while opening doors for vital partnerships with global donors.

2024

Life-saving Vaccines

Starting in 2024, our team began providing immunization services. Vaccinations provided by the Ugandan Government are stored on-site in a specialized solar powered refrigerator donated by Dulas Life Sciences. We regularly hike into remote community schools to ensure our 1800 children are kept on track with the World Health Organization’s Vaccine Schedule.

Current Challenges

Each week, we get a new influx of patients as word spreads about our services and people seek treatment. While some of our patients are able to pay their bills, most of our patients struggle to afford basic necessities such as food, clean water, and housing. While our community projects provide some income for the clinic, it isn't enough. We are in dire need of donations and volunteers in order to continue providing the best care possible to those who need it most. Please consider visiting our Donation & Volunteering pages and share our story.  With your support, we hope to continue to help the most vulnerable populations within our rural community. We appreciate your time, and are currently launching a Monthly Newsletter page, to provide our visitors with updates in our community. This will allow donors to see the lives they are improving in real time, and give viewers a chance to experience our lives from afar.
